This is in response to Zachow Ganem’s letter (Sept. 8) about her “bad yard-sale experience.”

I was one of the “unruly” dealers at her Thursday sale. When I arrived, her husband was talking to a couple professionals from the area and another man. Mr. Ganem said that the Sun Journal had made a mistake and run the ad for Thursday; they wanted a Friday/Saturday sale date. I was told to go ahead and look — everything was for sale — just pick it and he would give a price.

He was very friendly, fair with his prices, and surprised we liked his “junk.” Mrs. Ganem was upset when she came out. She closed the garage door and told us to leave. Her husband allowed us to take our picks and pay him. He also invited us back the next day. I understood her feelings and he was a peach about it.

Friday was pandemonium as the public overwhelmed the couple and people were in the garage and an outbuilding, as Mr. Ganem invited them to be. Perhaps the person who stole his proud legacy of Korean War Service attended the second day, not the first.

I agree with her that whoever took those medals should be a man (or woman) and return them and thank him for his service.
