1919 – 2013

AUBURN — Carmen C. Russell, 94, of Schooner Estates, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 26, 1919, daughter of the late Raynaldo and Ida Perrier Janelle. She was educated in Lewiston schools.

Carmen was married to John J. Russell, who predeceased her Oct. 29, 2012, and they will be sharing in a joint celebration of their lives at a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn.

Prior to her retirement, Carmen was employed for 37 years as a stitcher at Bates Manufacturing Co. In earlier years she enjoyed boating with her husband and wintering in Florida.

She is survived by three sons, George Cloutier and wife, Peggy, of Peabody, Mass., Richard Russell and wife, Mary, of Newton, N.H., and John J. Russell II and wife, Nancy, of Auburn; two stepdaughters, Marsha and Barbara Russell, both of Massachusetts; a sister, Jacqueline Turmel and husband, Albert, of Maryland; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Robert Cloutier; and a daughter, Claudette Freeman.
