FARMINGTON — A young woman from Perkins Township was given a summons charging failure to stop at a stop sign after her car crashed into a vehicle on Main Street on Monday.
Kaitlyn York, 18, of Perkins Township attempted to make a left turn onto Main Street from Front Street about 12:40 p.m., Farmington Officer Michael Raymond said.
She was driving a 2002 Ford Focus, which struck the passenger side of a 1994 Oldsmobile driven by Amanda Estes, 18, of Livermore Falls, who was traveling toward Center Bridge, he said.
A passenger with York, Taylor York, 19, of Farmington, complained of neck pain but refused treatment after the NorthStar ambulance arrived, he said. She intended to go to the hospital on her own.
The air bags deployed in the Ford Focus, and all three occupants were wearing seat belts, he said.
Estes’ car was towed by Farmington Towing and York’s by Hilltop Collision Center, he said.
Members of Farmington Police Department and Farmington Fire and Rescue helped direct traffic around the busy corner next to McDonald’s. The fire department also helped clear debris from the roadway.
