Maine’s credit unions recently announced a $75,000, three-year commitment to Good Shepherd Food Bank of Auburn to help expand childhood hunger programs in Maine schools through such efforts as the BackPack Program. At a recent ceremony, the first installment of that commitment was presented to Good Shepherd on behalf of the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. From left are: John Murphy, president of the Maine Credit Union League, Luke Labbe, chair of the league’s Social Responsibility Committee, Jon Paradise, assistant vice president of governmental and public affairs at the league, and Kristen Miale, president of Good Shepherd Food Bank. Currently, 30 schools are served by the BackPack Program, including Park Avenue and Washburn Elementary in Auburn, Lisbon Community School in Lisbon and Longley Elementary in Lewiston.
