1951 – 2013
LISBON — Diane K. Provencher, 62, of Lisbon, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 21, at her daughter’s home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Lewiston on March 6, 1951, a daughter of Harold and Beatrice (Gendron) Guimond. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1969. On Aug. 22, 1970, Diane married Peter Provencher at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston; together they started a family and did many wonderful things.
Diane was a graduate of Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion. She owned and operated Chez Suzanne in Lewiston for more than 30 years, where she enjoyed expressing her passion for hairstyling. When she retired from hairstyling, she worked at Bootleggers in Lisbon as a cashier. Diane also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and traveling with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Susan George and her husband, Michael, of Lisbon and Liana Schmidt and her husband, Carl, of Tennessee. She also leaves behind her siblings, Harold Guimond Jr., and his wife, Denise, of Indiana, Adrian Guimond and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston, Linda Buck and her husband, David, and Susan Child, both of Florida, Gerry Guimond and his wife, Brenda, of Lewiston and Denise Perry of Lisbon; as well as eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 39 years, Peter; her father, Harold; and her brother, Normand.
