Legion Auxiliary to plan events
SABATTUS — Sabattus American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2. Members are asked to attend this first meeting of the year.
The agenda will include planning the October card party and the November craft fair and there will be planning to organize care packages to be sent to military personnel for the holidays. For more information, contact President Joan Caron at 375-4639.
Swim team plans informational meeting
AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA announces an informational meeting for parents on the Twin Cities Swim Team (TCST), for kids ages 6 to 18. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the YMCA, 62 Turner St.
Tom Manduca, in his 13th year as head coach, along with assistant coaches Louise Tirabassi and Matt Reed, will be on hand to discuss the upcoming winter season and answer questions about the program.
Registration for the team is open, with the season set to begin Wednesday, Oct. 16. The team competes with other YMCAs in the state; home swim meets are held at Bates College. The season culminates with the state meet at the University of Maine in Orono the first weekend in March.

Variety show to benefit seniors bus
LITCHFIELD — A variety show, to benefit the senior center mini-bus purchase, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Libby-Tozier Elementary School Gym.
Cost is adults $8; seniors and students $5; under 12 $2. There will be a 50/50, quilt raffle, silent auction items and door prize.
Girl Scouts to hold sign-up night
LEWISTON — Girl Scouts of Maine will have a girl and adult volunteer sign-up at the Caleb Community Center on Strawberry Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Historical Society to hear guest speakers
BOWDOIN — The Bowdoin Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the FHC Building. Ernest and Polly DeRaps will show slides on lighthouses and will talk about living in a lighthouse and about a book they have written on the subject.
Fortier Chapter to meet at armory
LEWISTON — Fortier Chapter/Council, Royal Arcanum Chapter 52 (formerly ACA), has resumed monthly meetings and the next gathering will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at the Lewiston Armory, 195 Central Ave.

Seniors cribbage league winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Sept. 26 were: first, Linda Williams and Ron Hynes; second, Ike LeCompte and Dick Dennis; third, Cecile Bussiere and Sandy Oliver; fourth, Sandy Verrill and Jeannine Labbe; fifth, Pat Records and Bert Chenard.
