JAY — A Mass of Christian Burial for John Stephen Gilbert was held Friday morning at St. Rose of Lima, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin as celebrant. Pallbearers were John’s nephews, Carl and Craig Badeau, Joel, Jonathan, Marc, Stephen and Philip Gilbert. John’s brother and sister-in-law, William and Patricia Gilbert, followed the casket carrying the crucifix and Bible. His uncle, John Beaudoin, offered the first and second readings. John’s sister, Cynthia Gilbert, and his great-niece and nephew, Seth and Jenna Badeau, brought the gifts forward. Hymns for Mass, sung by the Resurrection Choir, were “On Eagle’s Wings,” “You Are Mine,” “As the Deer Longs,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “Ave Maria” and “Lord, Now Let Your Servant Go in Peace.” John’s aunt, Sally Beaudoin, sang in the choir as well as in one of the duets. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Livermore Falls. John’s family hosted a time of fellowship and refreshment at the St. Rose Parish Hall following services. Arrangements were in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, Jay.
