CANTON — The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Monday night to hire former Selectman Scotty Kilbreth as town administrative assistant.
Kilbreth replaces Harry Childs of Greene, who resigned Aug. 8, citing citizen harassment and lack of board support.
Selectmen Chairman Shane Gallant said Kilbreth will begin his duties Oct. 12 and work a four-day, 36-hour week. Kilbreth has a background in accounting and will be acquainting himself with the town computer system, he said.
Kilbreth, who resigned from the board on May 9, was one of 19 applicants, Gallant said.
Voters will elect three selectmen at the regular town meeting: Gallant’s three-year term is up; Lisa Cummings’ three-year term is up; and Jackie Conant’s remaining year is left.
