1921 – 2013
FARMINGTON — William A. Paradis, 92, of Farmington, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1921, in Valcourt, Quebec, the oldest son of Adelard and Isabelle (Fortin) Paradis. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, with the 512th Fighter Bomber Squadron as an airplane mechanic and was a crew chief for the P47 Fighter Squadron. On April 19, 1947, he married Aletha Porter of Farmington Falls.
William retired from the Farmington Shoe Shop as a maintenance supervisor. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Aletha, of Pinewood Terrace, Farmington; a son, William Paradis and his wife, Mary, of Farmington; two daughters, Nadine Demillo and her husband, Nick, of Jay and Nancy Matson and her husband, Rick, of Farmington; two grandsons, Andrew Paradis and his wife, Tia, and Matthew Paradis; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by six siblings, Muriel, Joseph, Nelson, Johnny, Beatrice and Irene.
