Alder River harvest supper
BETHEL — Alder River Grange will hold a public Harvest Supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. Cost is $8 for adults, $3 under 12.
AARP chapter meets Oct. 14
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, Oct. 14, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.
Lunch will be served at noon, to include macaroni and cheese and chicken. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, Oct. 11.
The business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and members are reminded to bring their donations for the Food Pantry. The program will be “Too Much Stuff,” presented by Marilyn Newell.
Firefighters hold harvest dance
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Volunteer Firefighter Association is hosting its 10th annual Harvest Dance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121. Doors open at 7.
Music will be provided by Hurricane Mountain. BYOB. $10 per person. There will be free snacks and a raffle.
The dance is OVFA’s major fundraiser and supports the association’s involvement in the community with events such as Fire Prevention Week, the Otisfield Winter Carnival, Fourth of July parade and more. The money also supports the Otisfield Fire Department with the purchase of needed equipment and scholarships for the first responder program.
Spurr’s Corner Church will have a free public dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. before the dance.

Diet to lower cholesterol
NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer “TLC Diet to Lower High Cholesterol” to be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Office Building, 193 Main St.
Stephens Memorial Hospital’s registered dietitian, Pat Watson, will show you how with the TLC Diet. Attendees will receive a TLC booklet and set of tasty, heart-healthy recipes. There will also be delicious low-fat dishes to sample.
