The biology students were taking part in EL’s Androscoggin River Days, testing the water and observing its life-forms. “We wanted to choose an ecosystem that directly affected them,” teacher Jenny Cyr said. “The river has gone through a lot of changes in the past two decades, and the students can ask their grandparents and parents about their past observations as well.”

The students were able to identify more than 10 macroinvertebrates in one scoop of river water at the Durham boat launch. Other Edward Little biology classes visited Androscoggin River sites in Lewiston and Turner.
