Winthrop 0, Oak Hill 0, 2OT

WALES — With the game remaining scoreless through two halves, Winthrop and Oak Hill ended with a blank slate through two overtimes in boys’ MVC soccer action Friday.

Winthrop controlled the shots, outshooting Oak Hill 27-13. Kyle Field had a busy day in net, making 24 saves for the Raiders (0-9-1), while Matt Sekarek stopped 8 shots in net for the Ramblers (1-7-1).

Leavitt 1, MCI 0

TURNER — With a strong first half, Leavitt took an early lead and outlasted MCI, earning a 1-0 victory in boys’ varsity soccer.

Tyler Roux was taken out inside the 18-yard-line midway through the first half, which led to a penalty kick that snuck past MCI goaltender Charles Moriagy.

Ben Fullerton had a strong day in net for the Hornets (2-7-1), stopping all eight shots to secure the shutout. Moriagy made six saves on the day for the Huskies (1-8).

Girls’ Soccer

Lake Region 3, Poland 2

NAPLES — Cece Hancock netted a pair of goals on the afternoon as Lake Region snuck past Poland 3-2 in WMC girls’ soccer action.

Mary Sims joined Hancock, scoring the the third goal for the Lakers, who earned their first win on the season. Isabel Scribner secured the win in net, posting 11 saves on 20 shots.

Sarah Bolduc and Lindsay Theriault scored a goal each for the Knights (4-5).

MCI 2, Leavitt 1

PITTSFIELD — Hannah Emery found the back of the net twice the first half, lifting MCI past Leavitt 2-1 in girls’ varsity soccer action.

Although MCI was outshot 19-3 by Leavitt, Emery was able to break the goal line twice. Becky Orcutt had a huge day in net, stopping 18 shots for the Huskies (3-6). Shannon O’Malley tallied the lone goal for the Hornets (3-6-1).

Field Hockey

Winthrop 1, Dirigo 1 2OT

DIXFIELD — With both teams scoring early first-half goals, the score remained knotted through two overtime periods as Winthrop and Dirigo tied, 1-1, in MVC field hockey action.

Ellen Wainwright connected with Kelsey Wilson to score the lone goal for the Cougars (5-5-1), while Amanda Dolloff paced them in goal, stopping six shots.

Emmah Spahr found the back of the net for the Ramblers (9-1-1). Winthrop was outshot 14-6 by Dirigo on the afternoon.

Lisbon 4, Telstar 0

BETHEL — Olivia Harrington rattled in a pair of girls as Lisbon cruised past Telstar 4-0 in MVC field hockey Friday.

Hannah Jordan and Sarah Craig scored a goal each for the Greyhounds (8-2-1), while Jordan connected with Craig on her only goal. Stevie Charest made two saves in net for Lisbon, while Hali Barter turned back three for the Rebels (4-7).

Spruce Mtn. 2, Oak Hill 1

WALES — With the score 1-0 in the first half, Kayla Meserve rattled in two goals as Spruce Mtn. escaped with a win against Oak Hill 2-1 in MVC field hockey action.

LaDesta Tracy connected with Meserve off a penalty corner to add in the go ahead goal. Kasey Richards paced the Phoenix (10-0-1), making 11 saves in net.

Abby Asselin scored the lone goal for the Raiders (6-4-1), on a feed from Sadie Goulet.
