FALMOUTH — University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Cumberland County has announced four beekeeping courses in 2013-14.

Master beekeepers Jack Hildreth and Peter Richardson will teach the Fall Beginning Beekeeping School at the University of Southern Maine in Portland consecutive Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., from Oct. 16 to Nov. 13.

Richardson and master beekeeper Chris Rogers will teach the Spring Beginning Beekeeping School at the Extension Office in Falmouth consecutive Thursdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., from Feb. 13  to March 13.

The fee for these two schools is $90 per person, which covers a textbook and a reference notebook; a $130 fee covers two family members and a textbook and reference notebook to share.

Master beekeeper Erin MacGregor-Forbes will teach a two-night Honeybee Disease & Pest Management Workshop at the Extension Office in Falmouth, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and Nov. 12. The $40 fee covers workshop materials.

Hildreth and MacGregor-Forbes will instruct an intermediate level beekeeping course titled Apiary Management at USM in Portland consecutive Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., from Jan. 8 to Feb. 12. The $130 per-person fee includes a textbook; a $180 fee covers two family members and a textbook to share.
