AUBURN — City Clerk Sue Clements-Dallaire was recognized by her peers at the Maine Municipal Association on Thursday as the Rookie of the Year.
The award was given at the Maine Town and City Clerks Association annual meeting Thursday in Augusta. The meeting was part of the Maine Municipal Association annual convention.
Clements-Dallaire was nominated for the honor by Auburn and Lewiston staff as well as Auburn’s elected officials. The award typically is given to town or city clerks who have been in the job for less than five years but have done an outstanding job for the community.
Lewiston Deputy Clerk Kelly Mercier was also selected as Maine’s 2013 Deputy Municipal Clerk of the Year.
Clements-Dallaire, who started in the job in 2011, was recognized for streamlining Auburn’s business license process, collecting more than $25,000 in past-due fees, and managing multiple school budget referendum elections in the same year.
“The position of city clerk serves to bring stability to process, from elections through meeting support on parliamentary procedure, to business licensing and public information,” Mayor Jonathan LaBonte said. “Sue has stepped into this role humbly, yet with great professionalism and a commitment to support our community.”
