LEWISTON — Brandon Baldwin from the Maine Attorney General’s Office will present a special program for all ages on Maine schools and their Civil Rights Teams at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library.

This free, public program is being co-sponsored by the Lewiston-Auburn Kiwanis Club and LPL.

Since 1996 more than 150 Maine elementary, middle and high schools have created Civil Rights Teams to protect the safety of students and reduce the incidence of bias-motivated behaviors and harassment. These teams engage students, parents, school faculty and administrators, law enforcement agencies, youth organizations and community members to provide safe school environments for students to grow and prosper.

Baldwin serves as the Schools and Curriculum Coordinator for the Civil Rights Team Project in the Maine AG’s office. This presentation will provide students, parents and school personnel with guidance in establishing and continuing effective Civil Rights Teams in their school.
