1926 – 2013
AUBURN — Constance Siino Bianconi, 87, died at the Hospice House on Sunday, Oct. 6.
She was born in Meriden, Conn., on Sept. 16, 1926, daughter of Frank and Josephine (Zanghi) Siino. Her mother died when she was five, and her father remarried Anna Zampano when Connie was 10. She was born just two blocks from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Meriden, Conn., and was a lifelong congregant.
She was married there on June 16, 1949, to Natale Bianconi, who died in 1999; they were married for 50 years. She was educated in Meriden schools and graduated from the old Meriden High School. She was active in Mt. Carmel School parent activities and was president of the PTA for one year.
She worked for Travelers Insurance, before starting her family and then for many years for CIGNA (then Connecticut General) in their Medicare division, from which she retired. She and Nat traveled frequently to Europe and Australia, and spent two months in Florida each winter for 13 years. She moved to Maine in 2003 and lived in Schooner Assisted Living for the past eight years. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and her kids will always cherish her recipe file.
She is survived by three loving children, Susan (and Robert) Zacharie, Jeffrey (and Lisa) Bianconi and Gregory (and Deborah) Bianconi; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Cessario; her sister-in-law, Maureen Siino; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Fred; sister, Anna; and daughter-in-law, Wendy.
The family sincerely and gratefully thanks the staff at Schooner Estates and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their attentive and professional care through the years.
