1942 – 2013

NORWAY — PFC Henry Joseph Alwin Buck, 71, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.

He was born on March 30, 1942, in Lewiston at Central Maine General Hospital to George Henry and Rita Elizabeth (Taylor) Buck. Henry grew up in Androscoggin and Kennebunk counties in Maine. He completed his education in the Auburn school district. He got his GED through the Army in 1961, prior to enlisting. He served for three years and four months as a chef. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era. He was discharged in 1965 at the rank of E-3.

He married Barbara A. Buck in 2002 in Oxford. They were happily married for 11 years. Henry was a member of the Boy Scout Troop 196. In 1999, he found God and soon after he became a member of the Oxford Hills Christian Fellowship in Norway. He also spent many years working for the Fryeburg Fair.

He loved the outdoors, which included fishing, camping and sightseeing. He also enjoyed cooking, working on cars and spending time with his family and friends.

Henry is survived by his spouse, Barbara A. Buck of Auburn; his children, George Buck of Westbrook and Betty Buck of Norway; children of Barbara S. Buck: John Buck of Farmington, Dawn Fox and husband, Joseph, of Auburn and Henry Buck of Oxford; children of Sheila A. Teeple (Buck); two siblings, David Buck and wife, Linda, of Florida and Arlene Snellman and husband, Neil, of Oxford; a brother-in-law, James Zuna of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Ayden, Allyson, Alivia Boutilier and Alek Hodgkin; three nieces, April, Theresa and Bessy; five nephews, Mark, Erik, Marshall, Timothy and James Jr.; and several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Henry was predeceased by his mother, his father and his oldest sister, Sharen.
