March against biotech foods

PORTLAND — On National Food Day, Saturday, Oct. 12, a peaceful march against biotech GMO foods will be held at 2 p.m. in Market Square.

There will be a GMO-free picnic before the rally.

Church collecting school supplies

AUBURN — The United Methodist Church of Auburn has partnered with the Washburn Elementary School of Auburn to provide donations of school supplies and needed clothing articles for students.

The fourth delivery of materials was delivered on Sept. 10 to the school.

The church is also collecting labels and box tops to be used to purchase additional educational items. Contact the church office at 782-39728 if you would like to donate items.

Weekly sale aids Loaves and Fishes

SABATTUS — For the benefit of Loaves and Fishes, the Dominican Sisters, 61 Lisbon Road, will hold a garage sale every Tuesday throughout the year, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Girls Scouts plan information nights

LISBON — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Lisbon Community School.

Girls and adults are invited to attend the meeting to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

Legion Post 22 monthly meeting

LEWISTON — American Legion Post 22 will hold its monthly membership meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Senior Citizens Room, Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

Unit 22 Auxiliary will meet at 5:15 p.m.

There will be a guest speaker, 50/50 raffle and separate prizes.

A light buffet will be served by the Auxiliary.
