1946 – 2013
AUBURN — Richard “Dick” E. Grant Sr., 67, of Lewiston, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Hospice House in Auburn, with his family by his side.
Dick was born in Poland on Jan. 5, 1946, the son of the late Scott Alvin Grant and Ella Evelyn Grant. He attended Edward Little High School. He married the love of his life, Rita Chamberland Ferron, on Feb. 25, 1978.
Dick worked at General Electric, Metal Specialties and most recently as a machinist at Bath Iron Works, where he obtained an Associate of Science Degree through Maine Maritime Academy. He retired in 2009.
Dick was a very loving and generous man, who loved the outdoors, painting, reading and enjoyed doing projects around the house. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife, Rita. If it was a Sunday, you would often find them watching NASCAR together.
Dick is survived by his wife, Rita; his children, Richard Grant Jr. and long-time companion, Josephine Pelote, Lori Mathers and fiancé, Vern Pressey, Keri Lynch and her husband, James, Loni Warner and her husband, Lonzel; his stepchildren, Debra Gagnon, Michael Ferron and his wife, Diane, Diane Charest and her husband, Gary, Lisa Ferron; many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Gerald Grant Sr., Paul Grant Sr., Ann Kahkonen, Elizabeth Audet, Stanford Grant, Jane Johnson; and his first wife, Glenda Eldridge, and a large extended family.
Dick was predeceased by his siblings, Millard Grant, Harold Grant and May Whiting.
