1921 – 2013

AUGUSTA — Patricia J. Camire of Lewiston died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehab, after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on March 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Cyril and Aurore (Lessard) Pare. She attended Ave Maria convent in Sabattus. During WWII she served in the Women’s Army Corps. In September 1941 she married Albert “Buck” Camire and they made their home in Lewiston.

She worked for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital as a dietary tech and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. After retirement, Pat enjoyed travel and visited many states and countries. A highlight trip was a trip to Hawaii with her daughters and son-in-law. She was also an avid reader, loved to make puzzles and knit. She relished spending time at the family camp on Long Pond in Belgrade with her many siblings and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Beaulieu and her husband, Roger, of Sabattus, Rachel Krawczyk of Biddeford, Theresa Berman and her husband, Richard, of Cape Elizabeth and Louise Lahaie and her husband, Bill, of Gardiner; and a son, Paul and his wife, Linda, of Lewiston. She also leaves behind her brothers, the Rev. Paul Pare and Andre Pare; her sisters, Marguerite and Madeleine Roy and Louise Pare; as well as her grandchildren, Scott Leberge, Mack Beaulieu, Niki Beaulieu, Adam Camire, Jeremy Camire, Allison Camire, Jennifer Krawczyk, Laura Krawczyk, Lydia Berman, Sarah Lahaie Fecteau, Shane Lahaie, Spenser Lahaie, Katie Camire, Paul Camire and Rebekah Camire; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Buck; her son, George; a sister, Sister Sylvie (Lucille); and her brothers, Louis and Thomas.

The family is grateful to the skilled, caring and loving staff at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehab for providing excellent and compassionate care in her final weeks.
