Church to serve chicken supper

RUMFORD —  The Rumford United Methodist Church, 455 Linnell St., will serve a chicken pie supper, with one seating starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

The cost will be $9 for adults and $4 for children under 12. In addition to the pie, there will be mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, rolls, beverage and either lemon or chocolate delight.

Halloween dance at club

RUMFORD — A Halloween dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Snowshoe Club. Music will be provided by Noel Palmer and Don Levesque. Members and guests are welcome.

MEXICO —  A “Killer Carn-evel” Halloween Walk will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26, at the River Valley Recreation Center.

School to have annual craft fair

RUMFORD — The 20th annual craft fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Rumford Elementary School, Lincoln Avenue.

There will be jewelry, knitware, cloth bags, doll clothes, wooden crafts, jams, jellies, pickles, crafts, a bake sale, raffle items and children’s crafts for sale.

Refreshments and lunch will be available at the ABC Cafe.

Benefit harvest supper set

RUMFORD —  A benefit harvest supper and dance for Lloyd Billings will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Eagles Club, 13 Oxford Ave.

Cost for supper is $8. Cost for the dance is $5. There will be 20 items for auction and a 50/50 raffle.

Billings was injured in a logging accident and needs a prosthetic for his left foot.

Girls, boys soccer teams to play

RUMFORD — The Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer Teams of Mountain Valley High School will play against Old School Alumni starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, with the girls playing first against MV Girls Soccer Alumni. Then the Boys Varsity will play against the MV Boys Soccer Alumni.

There will be a donation bucket at the gate and all proceeds from the games will go towards the Coaches Vs. Cancer events that the MVHS Athletic Boosters are hosting.

Vendor fair at Region 9 school

MEXICO — There will be a vendor fair at Region 9 School of Applied Technology from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. There will be door prizes and a variety of items for sale, including crafts, gift baskets, jewelry and baked goods.

Animal advocates to elect board

DIXFIELD —  River Valley Animal Advocates will hold the third annual members meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Dixfield Fire Station.

Voting for the board of directors for the upcoming year will take place.

All individuals, local businesses and groups that have supported the River Valley Animal Advocates are considered members.

The group has helped to spay, neuter and vaccinate 469 local kittens so far.

Girl Scouts to hold meeting

BETHEL — Girl Scouts of Maine will host parent information and registration meetings in the area as follows:

Monday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m.: Woodstock Elementary School.

Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m.: Crescent Park Elementary School, Bethel.

Girls and adults are invited to attend either meeting to find out about the ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.
