PORTLAND — Portland Stage Company will host the 17th annual “From Away” festival of international playwriting at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, on the Mainstage at Portland Stage, 25A Forest Ave. “From Away” celebrates the voices of international playwrights by bringing talented writers from around the world to Portland, where excerpts from their work are performed in translation. This year’s event features readings from the work of Whiti Hereaka (New Zealand), and Patrícia Portela (Portugal), followed by an open forum discussion between the writers, Portland Stage artists and the audience. Pay-what-you-can tickets, suggested donation $5. Call 207-774-1043 x105 for more information.
