1989 – 2013

AUBURN — Shawn Ryan Boies, 24, of Lewiston, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 28, 1989, to Carmen J. Butterfield-Dubois and Robert R. Boies.

Shawn attended Pathways Early Learning Center, where he met one of his very special angels, Dot McAtee, and later attended Governor Baxter School for the Deaf and met another very special angel, Juli Dubuc. He finished his education at Lewiston High School in the life skills program and there he met another very special angel, Rachel Lajoie, and also met his favorite teacher, Mr. Myers.

An avid Patriots fan, Shawn loved watching football with his family, going to Dunkin’ Donuts and his favorite day was always Friday.

Shawn had the ability to make others laugh with his laughter alone. He loved his dog, Sienna, who would cuddle up to him when he was sick. He enjoyed and loved very much his family at Opportunity Enterprises who gave him a loving home and a true opportunity to grow and gain his own independence.

He is survived by his mother, Carmen Dubois and husband, Robert, of Lewiston; his father, Robert Boies and wife, Therese, of Lewiston; his other special dad, Larry Austin and wife, Cari, of Auburn; his brother, Ryan Boies, whom Shawn looked up to and wanted to be just like, and Ryan’s fiancée, Sarena Chickering, known to Shawn as “Sweetheart;” his grandmothers, Rebecca Butterfield and Doris Bureau; his step-siblings, Jeff, Ryan and Lianne Marquis, Quinlan and Paige Dubois, and Noah, Cameron and Jaydon; and his nephew, Brayden Shawn Boies.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, George Butterfield and Norman Bureau; and by his dog, Sienna.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Androscoggin Hospice House for the wonderful care they provided Shawn.
