1919 – 2013

AUBURN — May D. Beaucage, 94, a resident of Cassell Street in Lewiston, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Hospice House surrounded by her family.

She was born in Lewiston on March 9, 1919, the daughter of Ulderic and Annie (Bradbury) Dionne. She married the love of her life, Raynald A. Beaucage, on Jan. 24, 1942, at Ste. Croix Church in Lewiston. She worked at Bell Moc Shoe and various shoe shops as a top stitcher, retiring in 1981 at age 62.

She was a member of Ste. Croix Church, Les Dames de Ste. Anne of Ste. Croix, AARP and the Lewiston Seniors. In her younger years, she enjoyed candlepin bowling and was involved in numerous church organizations.

Until the loss of her sight almost two years ago, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, taking photos and printing them on her EasyShare printer, her CD and DVD player and sharing her crafts with the family. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers. She also enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood friends, Corrinne, Ida, Irene, Juliette and Rita.

She is survived by her husband of almost 72 years, Raynald; and her three children: a daughter, Janet, and her husband, Andre DuBois, of Lewiston; and two sons, Paul Beaucage and his wife, Diane, of Auburn and Leo Beaucage and his wife, Gail, of Lewiston. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Eric and Tracy Beaucage and daughters, Allyson, Ashley and Amanda, of Lewiston; Craig and Carol Beaucage and son, Nathan, of Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.; Alaina and Suzette Beaucage of Ladson, S.C.; Timothy and Daesha Beaucage and sons, Evan and Connor, of Coon Rapids, Minn.; Richard and Karen Giguere and sons Zackary, Brandon, Kevin and Noah, of Auburn; Kevin and Doreen Giguere and daughter, Brooke, of Massachusetts; and Tobey and Amy (Giguere) Wiers and daughter, Britney, and son, Corey, of Auburn. She also leaves three sisters, Carmen Zadakis of Rumford, Fernande Lemelin of Auburn and Pauline and husband, Frank O’Connell, of Lewiston; one brother, Robert Dionne of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Lolitha Richard of Florida and Juliana Pomerleau of Lewiston; several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Pauline Dionne of Lewiston; a childhood friend, Lucille Delorme of California; and very special neighbors.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four half-brothers, Rosario, Ronaldo, Felix and Armand Dionne; sister and brother-in-law, Anna “Tiny” and Edward Gilbert; sister-in-law, Lauretta Dionne; four brothers-in-law, Eloi Richard, Peter Zadakis, Roland Pomerleau and Gerard Lemelin; nephew, Normand Pormerleau; and niece, Monique (Dionne) Berube. Most recently, she lost a special childhood friend, Yvette Filion Dube.
