I decided to support Lewiston’s former mayor, Larry Gilbert, for many reasons. The most important reason is his willingness to listen and support Section 8 housing.
As a military veteran and resident of Blake Street Towers, I have to wonder where would I be today if people who were in leadership positions had said “no” to Section 8 housing for Lewiston? Where would the other senior citizens and veterans who live at Blake Street Tower, Meadowview, Oak Park, Marcotte Residence, Frye School, etc., be today?
We live quality lives with dignity because of leaders who were open-minded and respected people such as myself. Good leaders listen and do the right thing so families can have peace of mind, knowing we have safe places to live in.
I will be voting for Larry Gilbert on Nov. 5.
Philip Nelsen, Lewiston
