DEAR SUN SPOTS: My son-in-law has a Victory motorcycle. I would like to buy him a Victory pullover or zip-up fleece jacket for Christmas.

I have been unsuccessful in locating any retail stores that sell Victory clothing. Online has also been unsuccessful. Any help would be appreciated. — Cherry, Lewiston

ANSWER:  Sun Spots found quite a bit of Victory gear online, with T-shirts and leathers predominating. She also found a fleece zip-up pullover at purepolaris.com (http://tinyurl.com/nkqcrm2).

If you go to victorymotorcycles.com and click on apparel, you are rerouted to purepolaris.com, so that appears to be the primary site.

For an overview of Victory items available, go to www.purepolaris.com/en-us/victory/pages/view-all-apparel.aspx.

Other possible sources include www.jpcycles.com/victory-motorcycle-clothing-and-eyewear and www.buycheapr.com/us/result.jsp?ga=us76&q=victory+motorcycle+jacket

Perhaps readers will know of some local sources.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My mother passed away a few years ago. In cleaning out an old cedar chest, I found her wedding gown, circa 1958. It is made of heavy satin covered entirely with lace and seed pearls.

I would appreciate any information you or your readers might have on people who deal with vintage clothing, antiques, etc. Any help would be great. Thanks. — Ann Madison, Rumford

ANSWER: Vintage clothing is one of those retail areas that seem to have moved primarily to online markets. Locally, the only knowledgeable person Sun Spots knows is Dan Poulin of Orphan Annie’s (96 Court St., Auburn, 782-0638). He may or may not be interested in buying it, but he could give you an idea of its value and how to market it.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you please tell me if there is anyone in the area who provides plain wreaths in various sizes or boughs for crafters? I have been going to Waldoboro (Evergreen Farms) for them, but it appears there is no phone number for them this year. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots found the Evergreen Nursery website at www.freshmainewreaths.com, with an address of 2500 Winslows Mills Road, Waldoboro ME 04572, phone numbers of 207-832-7576 and 888-497-3284, and email of info@freshmainewreaths.com.

Both phone numbers rang through as “cannot be completed as dialed.” Another number Sun Spots found on the company’s Facebook page, 207-832-5385, was finally picked up by an answering machine for “Wreaths of Maine.”

Also on Evergreen’s Facebook page was an Oct. 1 post saying it was just gearing up for the 2013 holiday season, so perhaps it is that rare business that holds out on Christmas until Halloween has passed.

As for other sources, Sun Spots knows of no shortcuts for finding out who sells what you seek other than calling every possible source in the area, which is a bit too time consuming even for her. Perhaps readers will be able to help.
