Craft fair at veterans home

PARIS — A craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Maine Veterans Home, 477 High St. There will be a refreshment table.

Knitting guild to have demos

PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street.

Christina Nason will demonstrate how to make bath mats. Members are asked to bring two colors of yarn and a set of no. 10 or larger knitting needles. Dee Farr will also hold a workshop on holiday card-making.

Society’s final meeting of year

WATERFORD — The Waterford Historical Society is meeting for the last time in 2013 at the North Waterford Church on Thursday, Nov. 7. There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 will feature “Cranberry Growing in North Waterford,” with Rick and Linda Woodward.

Calendars for 2014 featuring historical Waterford photos are still for sale at Bridgton Books, Melby’s and from the trustees.

Basket/pottery bingo set

LOCKE MILLS — The Gilead Volunteer Fireman’s Dept. will host a Longaberger Basket/Pottery Bingo to aid their equipment and training updates on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall, Route 26.

Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and snacks available. Games will start 10:30. Card packages start at $12, and raffles start at $1. Lunch items of hot dogs, burgers, chips, and baked goods with drinks will be available.

Vendor/craft fair for firemen

GILEAD —  There will be a Vendor Blender, Diva Night and Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall, Route 26.

Thirty-two direct sales vendors and crafters will present tables of wares. The first 50 women to enter will receive a complimentary gift bag filled with product samples, coupons, goodies, sales fliers and specials. Each vendor has also supplied an item for the ticket auction.

Snacks and hot dogs and burgers will be available for purchase.

The event is to benefit the Gilead Volunteer Fireman’s Association and proceeds will go toward personal equipment and training upgrades. Contact [email protected] or 357-0023 before 8 p.m. to purchase a table.

Nature club to hold potluck meal

OXFORD — The Twin Town Nature Club will meet for a potluck Founders Day supper at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Oxford Congregational Church, 252 King St.

A brief review of the club’s 80-year history and a discussion of future club goals will be held.

Fish/Game raffle winners

NORWAY — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association drew the raffle winners for the 2013 season on Sept. 22. The winner of the outdoor-theme quilt, donated to the club by Pauline Winterbottom, was Randy Seaton. The outdoor fireplace was won by Tim Yates.
