Bottle drive to benefit MHAA

MINOT — The Minot-Hebron Athletic Association will hold a bottle drive on Sunday, Nov. 3. The group has been given the opportunity for a matching fund donation from Modern Woodmen of America for all funds raises before the end of the year.

Bottles may be dropped off between 3 and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Minot School. A cash donation may be mailed to P.O. Box 33, Minot, ME 04258.

Bottles may also be left at Rooper’s on Minot Avenue with the information they are to benefit MHAA. For more information, contact Jessica Rodrigue, MHAA treasurer, at jrodrigue@mhathletics.com.

Bates lecture on African religions

LEWISTON — Michelle A. Gonzalez, associate professor of religious studies at the University of Miami, will discuss the influence of African Diaspora religions, such as Santería and Vodou, on Caribbean culture, history and politics at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the Edmund S. Muskie Archives at Bates College, 70 Campus Ave.
