1935 – 2013

LEWISTON — Melvin K. Dickey, 78, of College Street in Lewiston, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Russell Park Manor, with his loving family by his side after a long, courageous battle with Guillain-Barre syndrome.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 30, 1935, a son of the late Karl and Madeline (Rodrique) Dickey. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Lisbon High School, Class of 1955. He went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. Melvin married the love of his life, Jacqueline (Bilodeau), on Feb. 7, 1959; she predeceased him in 2002. He loved Jackie and was so proud of the many years they were married, and missed her every day since she passed.

Melvin worked for many years at the Androscoggin County Jail as a corrections officer, retiring in 1996. He was a former member of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus 106. He loved the outdoors — especially spending time at his camp in Monson, being on his four-wheeler and hunting. He also loved spending time with his family.

He leaves two daughters, Christine Beaulieu of Lewiston and Linda Tripp and her husband, Peter, of Greene; a son, Raymond Dickey and his wife, Lizabeth, of Lewiston; a brother, Richard Dickey and his wife, Mary, of Bowdoin; five grandchildren, Joshua Dickey, Erik Beaulieu, John Beaulieu, Lori Beaulieu and Delila Dickey; two great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Rene “Pete” Theriault; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Elenor Theriault.
