Let’s see if I have this right — the majority of the state legislators decided, in their infinite wisdom, to pass a bill that the state Drugs for the Elderly Program would pay less for a member’s Medicare Part D co-pay as of Aug. 1, 2013.
I am curious to know if those lawmakers even read what they were voting for.
The cut in benefits is only for seniors who had DEL through their Medicare Savings Program (QMB, SLMB, QL). Why they chose only us is beyond me, but it is discrimination. Hopefully, they will have to explain their actions to one of their relatives.
Now, let’s see how this assinine bill impacts us. Most of us have many medications that we have to take and, without help from the DEL program, a lot of us are paying more than $100 a month in co-pays. So, what do we give up? Medications, fuel or food?
Maybe those uncaring people, who don’t have to worry about those decisions because they don’t apply to them, will give us some advice. Seniors should band together and get rid of those lawmakers who say they are working for us but talk out of both sides of their mouths.
