AUBURN — Three men were indicted Wednesday on charges stemming from a home invasion in Poland during which, police say, a 71-year-old man was tied up, assaulted and robbed by a trio of assailants.

Police said the suspects entered the Julie Street home of Ronald St. Pierre at about 5 a.m. Aug. 24 while St. Pierre was asleep. He grabbed his handgun and tried to fight off the men, police said. The gun fired, but apparently no one was shot. The victim was overpowered and the intruders left with a loaded, silver .44 Magnum revolver with a long barrel, clothes, drugs and other items, police said.

The suspects were arrested one by one in the following days. Indicted on charges of robbery, theft, burglary, aggravated assault and stealing drugs were Corey Brume, 20, of 96 Elm St., Lewiston; Devin Charest, 23, of 170 St., Auburn, and Paul Farrell, 21, of 145 Eastman Lane, Auburn.

The three men have remained at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn since they were arrested.

Brume and Charest have criminal histories in the Lewiston area, including arrests on charges of burglary, robbery and assault. In March 2011, they were arrested together after a high-speed chase that spanned several towns.

A year later, in May 2012, they were arrested after a fight in Auburn. Both were charged with robbery, assault and burglary in that case.
