RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School will host parent/teacher conferences on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. Parents and guardians of high school students are encouraged to attend one of the evenings. Students may accompany their parents or guardians. If a parent is unable to attend on either of the evenings, but would like to schedule a conference, call the MVHS office.

Principal Matt Gilbert said, “One of the greatest keys to student success is parental involvement.”

Gilbert then listed reasons to attend:

1. Demonstrate to your student that you are concerned about his or her education.

2. Have one-on-one conversations with your student’s teachers.

3. Learn more information about your student’s progress than is shown in Powerschool.

4. Hear positive comments about your student.

5. Find out what your student is learning about in class. Everyone knows how communicative teenagers are – what did you do in class today? Answer: nothing.

6. Enjoy a personalized tour of the school guided by your student.

7. See first-hand what your tax dollars are paying for.

8. Establish a personal relationship with your student’s teachers. You never know when presenting a united front may be necessary.

9. Share insights about what’s happening in your student’s life at home

10. Consume free coffee.
