DEAR SUN SPOTS: I hope some of your readers who knit might share an item or two with the committee planning the YWCA Christmas Fair on Nov. 30 at the YWCA, 130 East Ave., Lewiston.

The committee is also collecting jewelry, white elephant items and holiday decorations. Readers who want to help can call me at 783-6651.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anyone in the Lewiston-Auburn area capable of repairing a small tear in a fur coat? — Ron via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots knows of no local furrier, but perhaps a seamstress can help. Sun Spots has also included the two women who make stuffed animals out of old fur coats. Their experience handling fur might prove useful.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for the cloth and yarn that was donated to Tree Street Youth Community Center in Lewiston. The kids have been hand-sewing pillows, purses, wallets, and baby cloths, and they are eager to sew larger projects and learn to knit and crochet.

Now we have another “ask”: We need thread, knitting needles and crochet hooks. We depend entirely on donations, so any of these will be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone has a working treadle sewing machine to donate, we would be grateful, and it would be put to good use. Thank you so much! — Deborah Lewis, finearts.deborahlewis@gmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the reader searching for plain wreaths (Oct. 28), in Norridgewock there is a wreath maker. They are not yet open and making wreaths, but I know many people buy through them. It is located right on Maine Street/Depot Street. Of course, even though I drive by several times a week, I can’t recall their name. — debsirois@yahoo.com

ANSWER: Google says they are called the Christmas Tree Acres Wreath Co., 855-634-5551.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I had graduation pictures from the Class of 1943 Livermore Falls High School given to me. I do not know any of them. If anyone would like them, please contact me.

Also, recently I was shopping at Walmart in Farmington. I put my wallet in the shopping cart. A few minutes later I discovered it was not there. I don’t know how it got out of my cart. I went to the service desk and one of the employees said a woman turned it in to the greeter.

I don’t know who she is, but if she reads this, I say thank you. You were a blessing to me that day. I had just gotten out of the hospital and was not feeling well.
