Considerable interest has already been manifested in the proposed plan to establish a museum in the Lewiston public library and the first thing Wednesday morning, Miss Evelyn L. Gilmore, the librarian, received the loan of a bread-toaster and a meat-roaster over 100 years old. These were contributed by Miss Alice Frost Lord and they were used originally in the primitive log cabin that was erected on the ancient homestead of ”Aunt Polly” Sawyer of Greene. Her grandfather (she is now 82 or 83 years old) was William Sawyer, who came from Wells about 121 years ago, driving thru with a horse and a sled loaded with household goods, possibly containing these irons.

Although the snow hasn’t begun to fly yet, it is time to find an off-street parking place for the winter, according to the Twin Cities police departments. Winter parking bans go into effect in both Lewiston and Auburn tonight at midnight. The Lewiston Police Department distributed 1,200 blue notice cards on windshields last night. The Auburn Police Department will hit the streets tonight in a similar effort. In Lewiston, a violation of the midnight to 6 a.m. ban will result in a $5 parking fine. In Auburn, parking for more than an hour between midnight and 7 a.m. results in a $10 fine, and parking in violation of the snow removal ordinance, an additional $15 fine.
