OXFORD — As a part of the recent Customer Appreciation Day at the Welchville Big Apple Store, the store hosted an Apple Pie-Baking Contest.

There were 15 entries in the contest with the national celebrity spokespeople Adam & Diego from CITGO leading the judging team. With taste testing completed, Kristina Wilson of Oxford won the contest.

There was a three-way tie for second place with a “Sudden Death Taste Off” to decide the winner. Nancy Gove, marketing manager for the Augusta region of CN Brown, won the prize, with Jinger Duryea of Norway and Katrina Waite of South Paris tying for third.

After the contest, slices of pie were sold by donation to benefit the MDA.
