1948 – 2013

PORTLAND — Kum Ok White, 65, of Lewiston, passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by her family after a brief and sudden illness.

She was born on March 8, 1948, in Inchon, South Korea, to Pil Su Kwon and Chong Mo Son. She had two brothers and three sisters who lived in South Korea and California. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1979 and lived in several states, before residing in Maine.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy White and Susan Faunce; her son-in-law, Jim Faunce; and her granddaughters, Rosemary and Beatrice. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to raising her daughters. She had a warm smile that was contagious and a child-like spirit that often made her family and friends laugh. She enjoyed cooking Korean food, karaoke, dancing and gardening. In recent years, she found pleasure in playing and singing with her granddaughters, and giving them piggy back rides.

She was predeceased by her parents and four of her siblings.
