LEWISTON — From 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, Museum L-A will host a fun and elegant Great Gatsby Party at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center.

The Great Gatsby Party will be reminiscent of Jay Gatsby’s parties in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. It is an event in relation to the museum’s current music exhibit, “The Roaring 20s to Swing,” which features one of history’s most talked-about musical movements following World War I.

The generation of that era commenced new concepts in music and dance including the decade’s most popular genres — swing and jazz. The museum’s exhibit provides a basic background of the vibrant musical culture of Lewiston-Auburn and the nation during this era focusing on the musical, cultural, social, and historical influences and events of that time.

will set the tone for dancing and entertainment with music from the Big Band era. The 13-member ensemble will perform music you can dance to.

Features of the party include: a decadent tower of “bubbly” and a chocolate fountain, a cash bar, and light refreshments. Guests will be treated to a free glass of “bubbly” to toast the evening.

Also to be featured will be restored, historic chandelier that hung in the lobby of Lewiston’s Empire Theatre which once stood at 142 Main Street of Lewiston.

The party is also reminiscent of the age of Prohibition, a movement created by prohibitionists who hotly argued against the sale and consumption of alcohol.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For adults only age 21 and over. Purchase tickets at: http://pssst.museumla.org. For more information, call 207-333-3881 or www.museumla.org/great-gatsby-party.
