NEW GLOUCESTER — A second Upper Village Master Planning workshop will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Memorial School gymnasium on Route 231.

The public is invited to participate in the planning effort to help shape future growth and redevelopment in the Upper Village core that includes Route 100 in the Town Garage and Peacock Hill Road areas.

The workshop will include an overview of New Gloucester’s historical growth and the role of village centers.

The town’s comprehensive plan describes the traditional New England mixed-use village as “an important part of New Gloucester’s sense of place,” said town planner Paul First.

Two draft plans will be presented — one conceived by the town’s Land Management Planning Committee and the other by New Gloucester resident Terry DeWan, a landscape architect.

Workshop participants will discuss the draft plans and make improvement suggestions. A series of interactive group exercises is planned.

Early lunch and homemade apple pie will be served at no charge to participants.
