1984 – 2013

HAMPTON, VA. —Derek W. Stimpson, 29, of Hampton, Va., formerly of Durham, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 11.

He was born in Lewiston on June 2, 1984, the son of Rodnell and Jane Stimpson.

Derek enjoyed playing video games, computers, listening to heavy metal music and particularly playing with his little cousins.

Derek graduated Brunswick High School in 2002. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He later worked for a private contractor for the government as a telecommunications specialist. Derek was enrolled in College at ECPI University in Newport News, Va.

Derek is survived by his parents of Durham, sister Erika Stimpson of Keene, NH, his daughter in Virginia, grandmother Jean Stimpson of Durham, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Albert Simpson Sr. of Durham; grandmother, Evelyn Tryon of Pownal; and grandfather, Richard Tryon of Pownal.
