New Auburn Seniors meeting schedule

AUBURN — The New Auburn Seniors will not meet on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Tickets for the Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 1, can be purchased at the Thanksgiving dinner meeting Wednesday, Nov. 20, or by calling Virginia at 783-0273.

The next regular meeting will be Dec. 4. Open bingo will take place on the 11th. After that, meetings will stop until the first Wednesday in March.

Program on new healthcare law

MONMOUTH — A program, “Affordable Healthcare and Marketplace: 101, Understanding the New Healthcare Law,” will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Cumston Public Library.

Cheryl Leonard, health navigator from Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, will be available. The event will talk people through the basics of the law and the newly available resources after to help those enrolled.

Marine Corps League to meet

AUBURN — The Marine Corps League, Central Maine Detachment 810, will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the American Legion Post 31, Washington Street.

Election of officers will be held. FMF corpsmen are invited to join.

‘Shop on Park Avenue’ fair

AUBURN — The annual “Shop on Park Avenue” Christmas Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Auburn United Methodist, 439 Park Ave. There will be food, craft and miscellaneous items. Church hosting Christmas fair

LISBON FALLS — A Christmas fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Holy Trinity Parish, 67 Frost Hill Ave.

There will be crafters, raffles, bake sale and lunch, including lobster rolls, hot dogs, American chop suey and apple crisp.

Library to show two films

POLAND — Ricker Memorial Library, Route 26, will celebrate its 50th anniversary from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the library.

There will be films of Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech and President Kennedy’s “Ask not what your country can do for you…” speech. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and memories.

Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free. This is the 11th event in a yearlong celebration of the library’s 50th anniversary. For more information, call 998-4390.

Church plans bean supper

LISBON FALLS — A homebaked bean and ham supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Lisbon Methodist Church, School Street. Cost is adults, $7; age 6 to 12, $3; 5 and under, free. The supper is sponsored by the Methodist Women.

Opportunity to say thanks

AUBURN — OneMain Financial will provide area residents and its customers an opportunity to participate in the American Red Cross annual Holiday Mail for Heroes program, a way for Americans to show their gratitude and best wishes to those who serve the country, veterans and their families, by signing and sending holiday cards.

From Monday through Saturday, Nov. 18 to 30, during its Customer Appreciation Days, the OneMain Financial branch at 648 Turner St. will provide and mail holiday cards for the community to send messages of thanks and holiday cheer to the nation’s heroes.
