PORTLAND — Passengers who travel aboard a cruise ferry between Portland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, starting this spring won’t get bored on the trip.
The 531-foot-long Nova Star will have three restaurants, three bars, a casino, a conference room and theater, and a children’s play area along with 152 cabins and capacity for 1,215 passengers and 336 cars.
Maine Gov. Paul LePage and officials from the ferry service provided details Monday about the daily round-trip service that begins in May and runs through November. Fares will be announced in a few weeks.
Nova Scotia officials inked a deal last week with Maine-based Quest Navigation. The agreement calls for the provincial government to provide $21 million in subsidies over seven years to help get the service established.
