JAY — Police continued Monday to look for an older model, red Dodge pickup truck involved in a home invasion and truck fire early Saturday on Macomber Hill Road.
A woman who was home alone told police three men wearing ski masks and gloves forced their way through the front door of the mobile home Saturday at about 12:22 a.m.
She told police that she was ordered to sit in a chair in the living room area while they stockpiled items from the house near the door. She made a call on her cellphone and when the intruders found out they left the home and lit her husband’s truck on fire, she told police. They fled in an older model red Dodge pickup with black on the bottom.
State fire investigator Kenneth MacMaster is assisting Jay Detective Richard Caton IV, police Chief Larry White Sr. said Monday. Anyone with information about the case, they are asked to call Jay police at 897-6766.
This was the second home invasion reported in the region within a week.
On Nov. 11, a teenager was home alone when a man knocked on the door of a mobile home on Vienna Road in New Sharon. When no one answered, he used force to get into the home, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies previously said. When he came to the 17-year-old girl’s room and saw her, he fled.
Stephen Dingus, 31, and his uncle James Dingus, 31, both of Augusta, were arrested in the case Thursday.

- Police are continuing to gather evidence in a reported home invasion and truck-burning at this Macomber Hill Road property Saturday. Police Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday that the woman who reported the incident has stopped cooperating with investigators and hired an attorney.
