LEWISTON — Joanne Snyder, 68, of Lewiston, died Saturday, Nov. 16, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Houlton on Feb. 14, 1945, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Devoe) Levasseur. She grew up and attended schools in Houlton, prior to moving to Lewiston.
Joanne was a certified nursing assistant and worked for many years in various local nursing homes. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Women’s Center and at a local homeless shelter cooking for the less-fortunate. She also cared for many of her family members when they were in their end-of-life stages.
Joanne had many hobbies, but the one she enjoyed most was making things for her family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Wotton, of Lewiston; her sons, Gerald Wotton of Auburn and Wayne Saunders and wife, Bobbie-Jo, of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Kerri, Dylan, Nichole, Jason, Taylor, Robby, Bryan, Lukas, Samantha and Aaron; her great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Keltin and Bryce; her sister, Lorraine Evans, of Tennessee; and her brother, Walter “Mickey” Levasseur, of Florida.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first son, Brian Wotton; her husband, Robert Snyder; her brothers, Eddie, Larry, Patrick and John Levasseur; and her sisters, Jean Saucier, Dorothy Sowers and Betty Drake.
