NORWAY — A Thanksgiving Day meal will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 28, at St. Catherine’s Church Hall, 32 Paris St.

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner Committee invites people from Oxford Hills who may otherwise be alone for the holiday.

The dinner, served family-style, will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and vegetables, with homemade pies for dessert. The meal is free.

The dinner will be prepared and served by members of St. Catherine of Sienna and Christ Episcopal churches.

Reservations may be made by calling 743-2606.

The meal follows a practice that began more than 20 years ago by a parishioner of St. Catherine’s Church who recognized a need in the community. She knew of several individuals who were spending Thanksgiving Day alone and invited them to her home.

It became an annual event until the number of people grew too large for her home to accommodate. At that point, she turned to the church for help because of its large kitchen and space for 120 guests.
