SOUTH PARIS — Guy Conrad Blais, 75, who epitomized the family man, died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 18, at Market Square Health Care Center surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 14, 1938, the son of the late Leo and Rita McCullough Blais, and was educated in the Twin Cities area, where he developed a lifelong love of sports. He married Carolyn Cushman Blais on Aug. 4, 1960, and during 53 years of marriage they raised four daughters.
A love of hard, honest work defined Guy’s life from his first long-term job at a grocery store through a career at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. in South Paris, before retiring as a custodian at Oxford Hills Middle School.
He is survived by his wife; and four daughters, Sherry Blais and friend, Pamela Campbell, of Sullivan, Susan Ivey and her husband, Robert, of Oxford, Becky Leupold of South Portland and Jennifer Cousins and her husband, Christopher, of Woolwich; a son-in-law, Gregory Leupold, of Colorado; four grandchildren, Heather Ivey, Alex Leupold and Caleb and Lucas Cousins; a brother, Leo Blais and wife, Suzanne, of Woodbridge, Va.; and a special brother-in-law, Richard Cushman and wife, Lynn, of Norway.
He was predeceased in 2008 by a sister, Yolande Hamel, of Lewiston.
