LIVERMORE — Health insurance premiums for 2014 for town employees are going up but not as much as officials expected.
“We received notification last week that our employee health insurance premiums will increase 4 percent effective Jan. 1,” Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Wednesday. “We were prepared for a 10 percent increase.”
Ever since the town went with the Maine Municipal Employee Health Trust for health insurance, there has not been a double-digit increase, he said.
The town’s reimbursement to eligible employees who obtain health insurance elsewhere will also adjust by the same 4 percent.
Premiums will go from $673.66 per employee, per month, to $700.61, he said. Reimbursement will go from $338.63 per month to $352.18, he said.
