FARMINGTON — A Farmington woman pleaded guilty Monday to entering a garage on Oct. 3 and stealing a toolbox and tools.

Kira Simot, 27, pleaded guilty to charges of felony burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer in Franklin County Superior Court. A violation of condition of release was dismissed.

She also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of violation condition of release related to another case.

Judge Susan Oram sentenced her to 30 days in jail on the latter charge. She received a stay on serving the time until Dec. 13.

In connection with the toolbox theft, Assistant District Attorney James Andrews said if the case had gone to trial, testimony would be that Simot entered the garage and took a red stack toolbox and tools.

The owner would have testified that he found the toolbox Oct. 12 at a pawnshop. Testimony would also show that Simot had a friend bring the tools and toolbox to the shop, Andrews said.

Oram continued sentencing for 90 days so Simot could enter a residential treatment program or complete such a program.
