1920 – 2013
AUBURN — Emeril L. Bergeron, 93, formerly of Maison Marcotte in Lewiston and Cornwall, Ontario, died Sunday evening, Nov. 24, at Clover Health Care, following a brief illness.
He was born in Asbestos, Quebec, on Feb. 20, 1920, the son of Ovide and Emilie (Champoux) Bergeron. Emeril was a Canadian Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 5th Canadian Division Armored Corps in the European Theater. After the war, he met the love of his life, the former Irene F. Verville, whom he married on July 1, 1946.
After relocating to Lewiston, Emeril was active in the Auburn Bowling League and the Lewiston and Holy Cross Senior Citizens, and was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, of Lewiston; one daughter, Colette Cote and husband, Bertrand, of Lewiston; one son, Andre Bergeron and wife, Linda Labrie, of Sabattus; four grandchildren, Daryl Cote and wife, Mary, Jeff Cote and companion, Crystal, Alison Armitage and husband, David, and Ashley Bergeron and companion, Jordan Dupuis; and six great-grandchildren, Anna, Amy and Lucas Cote, as well as Makayla and Emily Armitage, and Riley Dupuis. Also surviving is a half-sister, Liette Bergeron.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Lavoie and Berthe Piche; as well as two brothers, Rosario and Gerard Bergeron.
