WINTHROP — Richard Napoleon and Patricia Monique Saindon St. Laurent of Winthrop recently passed away unexpectedly.
Dick was born on Nov. 2, 1933, to Paul and Clara St. Laurent of Auburn. He attended school in Canton and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Pat was born on Jan. 11, 1939, to Albert and Muriel Parent Saindon of Lewiston, where she attended school.
Dick and Pat wed on Nov. 26, 1959. They had five beautiful children, four sons and one daughter, while opening their hearts and home to foster several additional children. The two were inseparable best-friends and he admitted frequently that, “mothah was my bettah half.”
Both had a passion for working hard and frequently supported those who were less fortunate within their community. Pat was a dedicated employee of Weight Watchers for many decades, while Dick worked as a millwright. During the course of their lives, Dick and Pat owned and operated D&P Enterprises, which consisted of many endeavors. In the early 1980s until the early 1990s, Dick and Pat started a dance hall named “For The Good Times,” in tribute to their favorite song by Ray Price. Once their son, Jimmy, returned from the U.S. Navy, he joined his parents in the family business and opened J.A. & Son on Route 202 in Winthrop.
Dick and Pat spent many happy years at their camp in Canton. In the past few years, they had a seasonal campsite at River Bend Campground in Leeds, with close friends and family.
Hunting was one of many outdoor activities they enjoyed doing together. Dick recently tagged his first moose while hunting with his sons, Michael and Jimmy.
Both were happiest when they were surrounded by their very large family. Pat loved to cook and share her recipes, while Dick was the life of the party and enjoyed telling classic stories and funny jokes.
Dick and Pat had been married for 54 years and are survived by their five children, Andre and Sindy St. Laurent of Stetson, Michael St. Laurent and Lisa Maxwell of Windham, Jimmy and Alissa St. Laurent of Winthrop, Louise St. Laurent and Rob Weber of Juneau, Alaska, along with Robert and Kathy St. Laurent of Lewiston; Dick’s sister, Doris Bouchard of Lewiston; Pat’s brother, Donald Saindon and wife, Carmen Saindon, of Lewiston; their grandchildren, who were their pride and joy, Daniel, Andre Jr. “AJ,” Michelle “Mimi,” Christopher, Emily, Mary, Jamie, Samantha, Sierra and Micheal Ryan; great-grandchildren, Ella, Madilyn, Jayden and Orion; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
They were predeceased by his siblings, Norman St. Laurent, Larry St. Laurent and Lorraine St. Laurent Click; and Pat’s sister, Joline Saindon, of Lewiston.
