RANGELEY — While new Town Manager Tiki White recently talked with a reporter, Rangeley fire Chief Tim Pellerin poked his head through the doorway of her office and said, “This is the best town manager in Maine, and you can quote me on that.”

Many town officials in this western Maine community are excited about White’s appointment Nov. 19 by the Board of Selectmen following an executive session.

“The department heads wrote a very generous letter to the Board of Selectmen supporting me to be a candidate of the town manager position,” White said. “I can’t express how appreciative I am of the department heads and all employees — not only for the letter of support that they wrote, but without all their support and all of them coming together as a team, I wouldn’t be able to do this job without them.”

Active in Rangeley government for the past seven years, White has acted as airport manager, general administrative assistant and administrative assistant to the town manager. She has served as interim town manager since July following the resignation of Tim Kane.

A native of Strong, White lives in Phillips with her husband, Donnie Beedy, who is originally from Kingfield. She enjoys flower gardening, reading, four-wheeling “and spending lots of time with friends and family.” The couple has two dogs — Fisher, a springer spaniel, and a Shih Tzu-Pomeranian mix named Honey, whom White described as “a little, furry bundle of love.”

As to her goals as manager, White said, “You always hope to bring better things. You always want to make it better — there’s always room for improvement.”

She said the support she received from the community during the selection process was heartwarming. “People were so kind and helpful. It means more to me than I can say.”
